   "A WONDERFUL, VERSATILE GUITARIST,

ALWAYS MUSICAL AND INNOVATIVE. OLÉ! ”

                                      PIERRE BENSUSAN

In 2015 he was the soloist invited by Radio Clásica to perform at the Teatro Real, in the act of celebrating the station's 50th anniversary.

In 2017, he was commissioned to compose a work on themes by Javier Krahe and was invited to premiere it by opening the concert - a tribute paid to the singer-songwriter in the Galileo Galilei room (Madrid), where he shared the stage with Joaquín Sabina, Gran Wyoming, Javier Ruibal , Andreas Prittwitz, Javier López de Guereña, Quequé, Eva Hache, Tomasito, Fernando Anguita or Pablo Carbonell among others. It was broadcast live on Radio 3 and published by Sony.

These two notes exemplify his exceptional versatility as an instrumentalist and the wide variety of forums on which he performs. His standing, dynamic staging, represents a revitalization of the concept of "solo guitar show" that seeks communication with the public above everything. In his concerts, his own multi-style pieces are combined with spectacular polyphonic versions of pop & rock classics such as "Bohemian Rhapsody" or "Billie Jean", in which he pushes to the limit his ability to play several lines of the original song simultaneously. Even former Dire Straits guitarist, Jack Sonni, did not hesitate to invite him to perform at his online festival, "Planet Jack Radio Stream", after listening to him during a live Facebook broadcast. A series of educational videos of this repertoire are available from Blackbear Music International.

His parallel projects include “The Ladywriters” (music by Mark Knopfler), with whom he has been acting continuously for ten years and has just released a live CD.

He studied at the Conservatories of Murcia and Madrid, with Manuel Díaz Cano and Demetrio Ballesteros, and obtained his degrees with Honors. At the same time, he attends masterclasses taught by José Tomás. He received a scholarship from the Community of Madrid and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London), to take up postgraduate studies with Robert Brightmore (Advanced Instrumental Studies). He developed a monographic research work on the guitar work of Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco and carries out the instrumental review of some of his lesser-known pieces.

He took up further studies with Leo Brouwer, Alirio Díaz, David Russell, Manuel Estévez (guitar), Ralph Towner, Máximo Diego Pujol and Pierre Bensusan (composition), Chema Sáiz, Mariano Díaz and Chema Vílchez (jazz).

He was awarded First Prizes in the XIV “Martín Códax” International Contest (Cuenca) and in the 2nd Aveiro International Guitar Festival (Portugal). He performs regularly as a soloist and in chamber music ensemble at festivals such as the United Guitar Festival (Sarajevo); International Festival "José Tomás" (Petrer); Young Soloists (Instituto Cervantes, London); Sacred Music and Chamber Music Festivals of the Villa Cultural Center (Madrid); Semana de la Guitarra de Cartagena; Semana Grande de Cajamurcia; Juan March Foundation; monographic of Spanish music (Edinburgh)… He was invited in 1999 to perform as soloist of Joaquín Rodrigo's “Concert of Aranjuez” with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall of the Tchaikovski Conservatory.

Especially active in the field of transcription, he has written and premiered many arrangements of all kinds of music for solo guitar or in different instrumental combinations, with formations such as the “Myrtia” duo (together with the flute player Gustavo Sánchez) or the “Díaz Cano” quartet. " Its transcription for four guitars of S.Prokofiev's “Classical” Symphony deserved the public congratulation of maestro Leo Brouwer, for whom he performed it with the “Díaz Cano” quartet at the X Semana de la Guitarra de Cartagena.

He has released two solo CDs for “Several Records”: “Chopin para Guitarra”, dedicated to his own arrangements of pieces by the Polish composer for one and two guitars (with guitarist Juan Abarca), and “Rara Avis”, album in which he plays his own music. Both have had a notable diffusion and excellent criticism in media such as Radio Clásica, Radio 3, Onda Regional de Murcia, Onda Madrid, Canal Sur Radio, "Music and Education" Magazine, La Verdad, "Acordes" Magazine, Classical Guitar Magazine (UK), Akustik Gitarre (Germany), Solo Violao (Brazil) or Gendai Guitar (Japan). As a composer, he premiered his “Tres Gigas” for guitar and orchestra at the 7th Lliria Chamber Music Festival (Valencia), also acting as the soloist.

He has been teacher at the Professional Conservatory "Victoria de los Ángeles" (Madrid); currently, he teaches at the Cartagena Professional Conservatory of Music.

He has a degree in English Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid. He has translated into Spanish the book "The Music Lesson" by Victor Wooten, which has been published by Editorial Almuzara.
